(Erin) Scrap FX~ June Reveal #1

Hey there! Man, I am suffering with a sunburn I generated as a result of having a play date with one of my life-long best friends Carrie and her kids. You know, play dates are really more for the moms than they are the kids- much of the time, the kids don't really get along all that well, lol- but we girls sure have a good time gossiping- and hey, that's all that matters, right? But we were sitting out on her deck and despite having skin cancer removed from my arm late last summer, I forgot- yet again- to put on sunscreen. I know! Horrible! What's even worse is when I see how sunburned my skin cancer scar is!! Yes- I KNOW! I'm a complete idiot, I admit- but I promise to be better next time. It's just that summer has really JUST begun and trying to remember those sorts of things after a long winter isn't always easy. But next time...I promise :).

I'm not really here today to share with you my sunburn, lol. I'm here to share with you my first Scrap FX project for the month of June! This month it's all about birthdays, and I was sent a nice plump box filled with all kinds of chippy goodness. HOWEVER, like the idiot that I am- I started creating my DT page, COMPLETELY forgetting that the theme this month is birthdays, lol...(I like to blame it on pregnancy brain, but I haven't been preggo for 9 months now, so I'm not sure how reliable that excuse is any longer- HA!)- BUT, never to be defeated, I decided to turn my focus on how I can take some "themed" chipboard pieces and create an every-day layout with them...

"Smile, It's Your Day"

Scrap FX Chipboard used on this layout:

~For my title, I decided to use the "Smile- It's Your Day" piece, as obviously it can be used to highlight not only a birthday page, but an every day or otherwise "special" day page. This day was special for Wyatt- and for me, and I wanted him to have something to remember this day by. To get the texture on this piece, I first brushed on a coat of gesso, then dabbed on some texture paste before lightly dabbing on some brown distress ink. Finally, I adhered it with some foam adhesive.
Above my title you can see the little camera chippie. This is from the "Photography Pack". I simply dabbed on some gray ink and ran some gesso along the edges to grunge it up a bit.

~I'm especially fond of my creative little banner :). What I used to put it together are actually little party hats from the "Party Embellishment Pack". I just turned them upside down, rubbed on some gesso, and went to decorating them. Probably never would have guessed they were party hats, huh?

~I thought that the little "Slide Frames" were just so sweet- and I'm always looking for that something extra to add to my clusters. So just roughly ran some gesso along the edges and slid it up under one of my layers before tucking in some flowers with it.

~I've included some hidden journaling on this tag from the "Tags, mixed red" pack. I love that the color perfectly coordinated with my color scheme, and just by adding some gesso and a bit of lace, I had the perfect accessory to tuck behind my photo.

 Additional Supplies Used:
~Webster's Pages "Yacht Club", "Seaside Retreat", & "Lullaby Lane"
~Bazzill Basics white cardstock
~Prima & Petaloo flowers
~Prima leaves
~Tim Holtz "Frayed Burlap" Distress Ink
~Prima Chalk Fluid Edger Pad "Tin Can"
~Martha Stewart "Optic Dot" & "Garden Rail" border punches
~Webster's Pages bling
~doily, book pages, lace, staples, gesso, texture paste

And there, my friends, you have it. If you're interested in finding some Scrap FX chipboard for yourself, feel free to shoot me an email. I have saved there a list of the stores who carry their products- and of course you can always drop a request at your LSS :).

Thanks so much for stopping by. Take care!

xErin

What a cute LO! I did not know the banner was made out of party hats until you showed the chippies further in the post. I also like the smile chippie & the little kids.
I have the same problem forgetting about sunscreen when we go riding on the motorcycle. My aunt has skin cancer & all that she has gone through, I sure remember to put it on now. PLEASE REMEMBER. You dont want to go through what my aunt has gone through. You dont have to have preggo brain to forget things. Just being a mom of 3 I think would do it. LOL.

I wish it was summer here in NZ... but it is wet and rainy! Be kind to yourself though and use sunscreen please... I know how easy it is to forget especially when busy gossiping lol
