(Erin) "Mr. Personality"

***IF YOU'RE HERE FOR THE SCRAP FX BLOG HOP, PLEASE CLICK HERE!!!!***

Okay, so I admit it- I'm quite hesitant to share this layout with you. Not that I don't like it- it's just that I decided to challenge myself and I came up with something not of my usual "style"...so I'm just uncomfortable showing something that isn't quite "me"...
So what was my challenge? Well, first I was inspired by the current challenge #22 over @ Challenge Me Happy, to use only black and red on a layout. It's been a while since I've been able to participate in one of their challenges and I had a little time the other day and so I committed myself to doing this one- but since black and red aren't my usual colors, I knew I would need to challenge myself:
(1) Actually USE my scraps! *gasp*- you mean, I have to ACTUALLY dig into my OVERflowing stash of SCRAPS?!?!?! Lol...I don't even know why I save them- I really almost NEVER use them...but at times like this, I was glad to have them.
(2) Use up some old products. Uh-oh...another tough one for me. I'm a self-proclaimed addict of anything new, so I am constantly getting new stuff which means I am just as constantly ignoring my older stuff...So I found my almost full sheet of chipboard stickers from the "Toy Box" line by Crate Paper.
(3) No flowers. YEP- NONE! That one has got to be the hardest!! I had a few flowers picked out, thinking I would HAVE to sneak a few in- but I stood strong, and left them off. I KNOW, can't believe it either- but I did it!
Okay...so now it's share time...please be easy on me, lol!!
My little Gunner certainly IS my "Mr. Personality"! He's just such a joy...Here, my husband Josh had just gotten home and was sitting at the computer and Gunner was on the couch behind him. I asked Gunner "Is daddy home?" and he would make this face at his dad- until Josh turned around, when he'd go straight-faced, LOL!! He did this over and over again- you can bet I was there snapping pictures- this is just one of them. Such a silly little guy- LOVE him!!
But anyways, I've got a busy day of kids and Preschool and laundry and the exterminator coming out- we've got carpenter ants and with all of our new construction, we definitely don't want to take any chances.
However, it's National Scrapbook Day tomorrow and you can bet I'll be back with a really great prize to be won!! Yep, ANOTHER giveaway- remember, the Scrap FX Blog Hop is still going on, where you have a chance at my own giveaway, in addition to several others AND a truly amazing one from Scrap FX!! So if you haven't had the chance yet, head to my post using the link at the very top of this page and get going- it'll only take but a few minutes!! :)
Have a good one!
xErin

Erin, I definitely don't see anything lacking on this layout and it still really follows your style! I like that you left the flowers off of this one because I think the CP chipboard elements make a great fill in! I love the fun frame with the twine and the little hat you added to the other photo! Totally awesome layering under your photos!!

Erin, this is fantastic! I still see your style here, even though you didn't add any flowers. Don't you love challenging yourself like this sometimes? I often find that is when I create some of my favorite layouts. This one is great...I love the messy paint splatters, the twine around the frame & the banner pieces! Perfect for the CMH challenge!

It's certainly different to your normal style, but I really like it. The paint splashes and banners look fantastic.

Gosh Erin I had to check the address there - thought I was on the wrong blog! Just love this one even though it is nothing like your signature style. Little boys need their own rough & tumble pages though too and sure that Gunner will be mad about this one - so full of movement! BTW I just LOVE your kids names :)
