(Erin) "Boy" Guest Designer @ CSI!!

Well it's Friday evening here and a new case file has opened over at CSI (Color, Stories, Inspiration)! This month C'est Magnifique is their sponsor and we've been asked to join in as Guest Detectives :). Today they have a fabulous case full of beautiful colors and tons of inspiration/journaling prompts.
Here is what I came up with...
Based on the following case file:

I've used papers from the "Everyday Poetry" collection by Webster's Pages to set the stage for my color scheme. In truth, the "Clean & Simple" papers in this collection at first didn't appeal to me...but after using them here I must say that I love them!

For my "evidence" requirements I used book papers (probably my favorite part of this layout) to create the layering detail beneath my photo. This idea came to me by accident- I'd intended to layer some wrinkled book pages behind my photo but the pages were to big so I was tearing them into smaller pieces. I ended up not liking the look of them behind the photo- but I started playing with the torn strips, wrinkling them up and distressing them a bit- and this is what I came up with! :)
Additionally, I've used a bird (which also happens to be wood bird by Kaiser Craft, another evidence option), gesso, border punches, and florals! So I went a little crazy with the evidence- but those are all things I use anyways, so it was pretty easy ;).

For my testimony, I created a little book that is titled "Book of You"- which actually came from my title "Boy"...since the initials of Book of You is boy...I know, a little corny and most people would never catch that- but it works :). I made a list of what Wyatt is like at age 4 1/2- both the good and the bad!! I love my oldest child with all my heart...but he makes me fear what's to come with my younger two- it's been a TOUGH couple of years!! He's always seeking his independence and testing the limits at every opportunity!! But that is what they're supposed to do and I'm told 5 gets better...so we shall see!

Finally, for my title I've used the "Boy- script" wordlet title from Scrap FX:

The rest of the C'est Magnifique team, along with the CSI team have come up with some amazing examples for you, so definitely head on over and check them out!! You have until May 20th @ 11:59 EST to enter for the chance to win the incredible May 2012 kit from C'est Magnifique, featuring papers from the 7 Dots Studio "Wonderland" collection!!
Thanks for stopping by...And to all you moms out there- Happy Mother's Day- you truly have the hardest, most rewarding and amazing job- take special care of yourselves (and your kids!) this weekend!!!

Erin, I love this layout!!! The book papers are my favorite part too! Love how you distressed and layered them!

I can se what you mean about the papers if you look at them individually, but used together, as you did, really creates a subtle fabulous background that allows your pic and embellies to pop! :)

Happy Mother's Day to you and Kelly -- blessings for YOUR day! :)
